Intentionality

Intentionality in our speech, thought, and actions allows us to actively interact and engage with life Being intentional helps us create the life we wish to live, as opposed to letting life just happen to us. Being intentional is the foundation of the daily work DMV PAL does to ensure that we empower everyone, especially youth, to be self-reliant as they take control of their lives.

Community

We believe the world is a better place when we are a part of something larger than ourselves. This is why having a community where you feel safe, welcomed, important and loved is essential. DMV PAL provides an inclusive safe space and strives to encourage relationships and bonds that last a lifetime.

Honesty

Honesty is one of the greatest qualities a person can have and we take it seriously here at DMV PAL. Being upright in character and action is the foundation of our relationships with the kids, cops and communities we serve. It empowers us to live our best and most authentic lives, while creating change. Being honest is not always the easiest thing to do, but it is always the right thing to do. It has the power to change the world in unimaginable ways.

Empathy

The ability to understand and fully acknowledge the feelings, thoughts, and realities of other people helps us build meaningful and healthy relationships. Exhibiting empathy is one of the first steps to discovering pieces of ourselves in others, while dismantling barriers that once stood between us. DMV PAL promotes an environment that thrives off of empathy because we understand that we are all in this thing called life, together.

Openness

Life is all about evolving and being open to new experiences, people, places, and opportunities, to better understand the world around us. New may be scary and unfamiliar, but it can also be life-changing and necessary. DMV PAL encourages our participants to welcome change and always approach new experiences with a childlike sense of curiosity.

Service

DMV PAL knows that service is the focal point of all human interaction. Everyone has unique gifts and we believe these are best used in the service of other people. Countless lives are improved when we tap into our power to help others succeed, progress, and grow. Engaging in service helps to foster compassion and understanding, encourages positive self-worth and self-esteem, and creates lifelong memories.
